First PowerFactory User Conference in Iran

MATN International, representatives of DIgSILENT GmbH in Iran, organized their first User Conference in Tehran, Iran, on August 02/03, with more than 120 registered participants. The inaugurating addresses were held by Parviz Ghiasseddin, general manager of MATN International, by Mr. Hojjat, Deputy Secretary of State of the Power Ministry, and Mr. Mohseni Kabir of Tavanir Co.

Mr. Hojjat underlined the need for a professionally supported and flexible standard planning tool and praised the commitment of MATN International in this field and the eminent role of PowerFactory among Iranian Distribution and Transmission Companies. Mr. Mohseni Kabir from Tavanir, the central planning authority for transmission network planning, described the need for transparent data exchange between utilities operating high-voltage networks and expressed the need for a common network analysis software.

The first day of the conference was entirely dedicated to transmission utilities; the second day was focusing on distribution companies. The program of the two-day event included a review on recent planning projects performed by utilities and engineering companies. DIgSILENT GmbH offered an overview on its world-wide planning activities and answered customers' questions during the feedback sessions. Interested visitors had the opportunity to learn about the latest PowerFactory functions, the Real-Time Network Simulator and the state estimator, and about PowerWare, the new comprehensive internet based application for relay settings administration launched in 2005.
