NEMMCO appoints DIgSILENT for wind impact study in Australia

DIgSILENT Pacific has been appointed by NEMMCO, the Australian regulator, to carry out the study "Assessment of potential security risks due to high levels of wind generation". The study will mainly focus on the dynamic impact of wind generation in South Australia on the Australian power transmission system. Prior to the appointment, benchmarking could validate the accuracy of dynamic PowerFactory models of the Australian transmission grid. DIgSILENT's vast expertise in power system stability and wind generation made its proposal to NEMMCO very competitive. However, the very accurate dynamic wind generator models available in PowerFactory software assured DIgSILENT this appointment.
