How are IEC 61000 sources taken into account in the harmonic load flow?

Answer

The IEC 61000 sources in the harmonic load flow follows a special rule.

Since no angle information in current and voltages are considered, the current divider of the first Kirchhoff's law will not apply.

For this reason, there is a special summation law in case of mulitple (IEC-) harmonic sources (see user manual) instead of the vectrial summation of complex values.

In the attached document, three different cases are explained based on examples:

  • Current divider single IEC source
  • Summation law with multiple IEC sources
  • Mix of phase correct and IEC sources
