How can I model a lightning current source in PowerFactory EMT simulation?

Answer
A lightning event can be modelled in PowerFactory in two ways:
- using the built-in impulse source element (ElmImpulse) - recommended approach.
- using a detailed, user defined DSL model.
The first method is the recommended approach as it provides a simple to use built-in model of an impulse source. This element is valid only for EMT type simulations. The impulse source can be simply drawn in the single line diagram by choosing it from the Drawing Toolbar and connecting it to a terminal/busbar where the lightning strikes. Parameters of the impulse source can be set within the EMT-Simulation page of the element.
For the second option, please find attached an example with a current source controlled via DSL blocks and designed for EMT type simulations.
