How do I calculate loads with time-dependent characteristics?
PowerFactory provides the toolbox Quasi-Dynamic Simulation to calculate a set of load flow calculations considering defined time characteristics.
For almost every element parameter, characteristics can be deposited by right-clicking in the parameter-field and adding a global or project characteristic.
Exceptions are the medium and low voltage load (ElmLodmv, ElmLodlv), where the Consumption Profile can be set directly via the selection, if the Load Type is set to E, cos(phi) (input of yearly energy demand). Another exception is the photovoltaic system (ElmPvsys), if the Solar Calculation model is used. Its power is adapted based on the geographic site of the connection, the system specific parameters and the timestamp of the calculation.
The global library contains predefined characteristics of the BDEW standard load profiles. To define own characteristics, various types of characteristics are provided. Their data can be stored directly in the PowerFactory database or obtained from external files stored on the hard disk or in the network.
The Quasi-Dynamic Simulation can be executed by pressing the corresponding button in the toolbox icon bar (Quasi-Dynamic Simulation toolbox). A user-defined interval with the chosen time-step is calculated.
Due to the high amount of available variables for each element, the results are limited to the ones defined in the Variable Selection.
The resulting values can be plotted graphically. Predefined reports analyse the values statistically and list min/max values of voltages/power/loading and the timestamp of their occurrence in a tabular format.
