DNO PowerFactory User Group Meeting 2019, Frankfurt, Germany

The 2019 DNOs Power Factory User Group Meeting took place on September 16th and 17th. Delegates from 30 companies were welcomed in Frankfurt for a varied agenda, including presentations both from DIgSILENT and from several of the DNO participants.

Day 1 started with a review of PowerFactory Highlights for Distribution Network Operators, introducing application examples and tricks for working with PowerFactory and StationWare, and continued with three presentations on network protection, featuring protection calculations, the synchronisation of PowerFactory and StationWare and the optimisation of protection settings.

The day was completed by a walking tour around Frankfurt´s medieval quarter, and dinner.

Day 2 continued the theme of PowerFactory 2019 and StationWare developments, with an interactive poster session on Solutions for Distribution Networks, including a range of presentations by DNO participants about their own PowerFactory applications, providing an insight into the diversity of use cases and business processes supported by PowerFactory and StationWare.

The second session featured two integration projects where PowerFactory’s versality as a tool for low-voltage network and GIS-integrated calculations was presented.

The morning sessions were rounded up by DIgSILENT’s preview of the main new features to be expected in PowerFactory 2020, and the day was completed by a session where participants had the chance to present their own wishes and proposals for future developments.

Besides all the agenda sessions, participants took the opportunity to have many discussions with their fellow system-operators and with DIgSILENT.
